I am happy to know that you have founded Janwani in Pune under the MCCIA. There is no Doubt that Janwani will act as a Catalyst in the development of Pune and its surrounding areas.

There are many new initiatives being taken up in Pune, the JNNURM projects being in the forefront. The PMRDA has now become possible because of the amendment which has been made in the MRTP Act 1966.to create Area Development Authorities. Mass Rapid Systems like METRO however, needs to be conceptualized carefully considering the prospective ridership and utility of the systems. I am sure that Janwani will give valuable suggestions in these matters.

We in the professionals party of India are very keenly following the work Janwani is doing to bring to the notice of the general public what all is wrong  with the proposal for a Metro railway system for  Pune given by the DMRC.

It Is a very good move to educate the public, who must be the real decision makers, on what all is wrong with a seemingly desirable transport system that is supposed to bring relief to the harassed commuters of our city.

We are grateful to Janwani for stressing the vital drawbacks which can land Pune with an overpriced and under capacity White Elephant unless they are corrected at this early stage.

We are with you all the way and wish you success in this public spirited Endeavour.

Janwani blog is really a great initiative of reaching out. Quoting Amartya Sen who emphasized on 3R\\s of Good Governance - Reach, Range and Reason. Thus Reach is hereby achieved!

On Pune Bus Guide:
It indeed gives all information. A minor addition would be display of fares, moment a route request is punched in. This could be a feather in the cap for the website and a great help to citizens.

Heartfelt congratulations for a wonderful and imaginative presentation. It was very readable, interesting and unputdownable.
Owing to preoccupations I kept on postponing its perusal, and although Kishoritai had given an idea of
what it was about, actually reading the draft of the booklet was quite an experience.
I would be happy to have the final version of the book-let, with all the relevant and important  information, to
read and use the info, to be able start a crusade in my own small way, and to encourage my friends to join
in that,with me.

parvati-mandir is one of the important historic symbols of pune.

it shall be developed as a meeting place for punekars.

it shall be lit in the nights so punekars can look up to parvati-madir with pride.
...
it shall be a place to help punekars become healthy.

it shall be a place of tourist attraction.

the present status is distressing.

can we not restore parvati to its glory.

Appreciation by Sharmila Ranade on Budget Booklet
Janawani recently released a booklet “My City, My Money”,which has turned out to be a great effort. It simplifies as well as segregates the budget effectively. The ward-wise segregation gives a good glimpse of each ward in the type of work it is doing, the projected amount and the provision made for 2011-12.It lists the major projects under JnnURM and development projects in the corporation.Apart from this it gives the departmental budgets in an easily understandable format. We can say it is a telescoped copy of Municipal Budget document, made available for a layman to understand.Apart from the content the look of the booklet is also very appealing. The whole exercise has become noteworthy because of the crisp presentation & readable format. This attempt will prove very useful for citizens now, to take a quick look at how their monies have been spent!
